Hello. I'm Rach. I'm an editor, writer and proofreader.

I've been doing this for over 10 years now, so I think I've got a fair idea of what works on a page (whether it's on a screen or one of those old fashioned things made out of paper). Over the past few years, I've:

• reported for BBC News Online
• edited and managed academic journals, books, magazines and prospectuses
• disentangled policy documents, reports and case studies
• created and maintained websites and e-learning content
• blogged from technology conferences
• given seminars for academics
• spent a while writing press releases about squirrels.

I'm currently working for the European Forest Institute in Finland, as Acting Managing Editor.

what else should you know?

I don't like typos, jargon, sloppy spelling, and lists that go on and on and on. I do like writing that makes an impact, makes its point and then leaves without a long goodbye. I'm the proud possessor of several red pens for editing, and I'm not afraid to use them.

Most importantly, I'm rather partial to a nice cake.
